“We’ve discovered an oasis of relaxation in Newstead.” writes Gina Shearer for B Mag Brisbane.

As soon as you walk through the door at Thai Touch Massage and Day Spa, it’s like you’ve entered another world.

The stress of your day-to-day routine melts away and all the noise that usually surrounds you fades into the background, as you take in the modern décor, breathe in the fragrant aromatherapy oils, and let the peaceful ambience wash over you.

When I stepped inside, I just remember feeling an immediate sense of calm. For once, my mind wasn’t trying to race five steps ahead of me, occupied by thoughts of where I had to rush off to next and what I was doing later — instead, for once, I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be.

After a warm welcome with a hot towel, it was time for my skilled masseuse to go to work.

I opted for the Thai Touch signature oil massage, their patented combination of traditional Thai massage and relaxing aromatherapy techniques. It’s a massage intended to revitalise your body by reducing stress and relieving aching muscles; a healing massage complemented by the therapeutic properties of the essential oils of your choice, recommended for those looking to reduce and heal pain.

I had just gotten back into regular exercise after a long hiatus (be honest, we’ve all been there), and this was exactly what my distressed muscles needed.

In keeping with traditional Thai techniques, my masseuse put her all into her work, using her legs and feet — not just her hands. If you’ve never experienced an authentic Thai massage before, you might get a bit of a shock when the masseuse walks on your back, but it’s the perfect way to loosen up those muscles that are in dire need of relief.

When my 60 minutes were up, my entire body felt refreshed. Not a single tight muscle had been missed, and although at times I was awoken from my blissful, relaxed state by some very deep prodding, I left feeling like all the tension had left my body.

To finish, I was served herbal tea and refreshments, and offered a tour of the upstairs area, where I found three huge double treatment rooms. I’ll definitely be coming back with my partner for the couples massage!

A few days on, I’m still feeling great. Recharged, relaxed and ready to go — although I’m already dreaming of my next session.
